As we get older, we tend to decrease exercise time and intensity. As little as ten extra minutes of physical activity, three times a day WILL make a difference!

Physical activity improves your confidence and helps you stay independent. It may seem tiring initially, but it will build your energy long term.

What exercise is best for seniors?

The secret is to choose an exercise that is fun for you, and safe.

Low-impact activities like walking, hiking, swimming, and water aerobics or aquafit classes (instructor-led exercise classes in a swimming pool) are great choices. Our north shore community and seniors’ centres provide exercise programs tailored to the needs and abilities of seniors.

Stay motivated with Parkrun

One of the best ways to stay motivated with to exercise with others.

Parkrun is a free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community exercise event. Walk, jog, run or even volunteer  – it’s up to you! Please come along and join in whatever your pace!

Ambleside Parkrun is free and open to all ages. It takes place EVERY Saturday at 9:00am at Ambleside Park behind the Ferry Art Gallery on the corner of 14th and Argyle Avenue, West Vancouver.
